Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Swimming Carnival 2026
The sun was shining during our annual swimming carnival. Our students demonstrated great teamwork and came together as a community to support and encourage one another while taking part in the events.
Mildura Art Centre Gallery Visit 2026
In Week 7, senior and junior students visited the Mildura Arts Centre to explore three exhibitions: "Mungo to Country," Bruce Munro’s light installations, and Josh Muir’s interactive works. Gallery staff provided presentations that deepened students' understanding, and students engaged with the art through culturally focused worksheets. The excursion enriched students’ artistic development and was well received by both gallery staff and the bus company for the students' enthusiasm and participation.
CHS Sports Academy 2026
Our students displayed impressive agility, speed and power during their fitness testing. Sammy highlighted that this program is a fantastic opportunity for students to develop and strengthen their skills, build confidence, and foster meaningful relationships. He also shared how these sessions provide valuable exposure to a range of pathways and future opportunities. We’re excited to continue nurturing their skills, confidence and future pathways throughout the year.
Harmony Day 2026
Everyone belongs and every culture is valued in our school. Together, we build inclusive classrooms where respect, diversity and kindness create a positive learning environment for all. Let’s keep spreading harmony and celebrating what makes us unique!
Debating Workshop and Training Day 2026
Coomealla High School students were given the opportunity to participate in a debating workshop and training day at Wentworth Public School. The day brought together students from across Wentworth Shire and was emblematic of the strong communities we build within public education in NSW.
Coomealla students took full advantage of the opportunity, preparing arguments for speeches on school uniforms and online safety. This is hopefully the first of many similarly exciting and educational experiences for our students.
Open Night 2025
Students from our local primary schools attended our open night, where they enjoyed taking part in various activities. They also learned more about the opportunities and programs Coomealla High School offers to support their learning and growth during their high school years.
Youth Week 2025
Our students enthusiastically celebrated Youth Week by participating in a variety of exciting activities, with a highlight being a vibrant colour run. This fun event allowed students to enjoy physical activity while fostering a sense of community and celebration.

Students in Years 7 and 8 recently enjoyed a three-day trip to the Murray Life Adventure Camp. During this excursion, they took part in various activities designed to help them build friendships, strengthen relationships with their classmates, and improve their communication skills.
Careers Expo 2025
Students had the chance to connect with local businesses to explore different careers and learn about various industries. This helped them understand job roles, required skills, and work environments, giving valuable advice for planning their futures after high school and making informed career choices.
The Run Beyond Project 2025
Students have been doing an amazing job at their Friday afternoon training sessions! The team is really enjoying their brand-new kits, and almost everyone is wearing their new shoes every day.
We've been keeping things interesting by holding different types of sessions in various locations, including an indoor gym workout after some unexpected (and unusual) rain.
NAIDOC Day 2025
"The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy"
This day highlights the importance of Indigenous youth and their role in shaping the future. We continue to acknowledge and celebrate the Traditional Custodians of the land together. We had many coomunity organisation join up for the day of celebration and recognition.
Book Week 2025
Staff and students had a fantastic time celebrating Book Week by dressing up as characters from their favourite books. This fun and creative event allowed everyone to express their love for reading and share their favourite stories with others.

We stand united in support and acceptance of all our staff and students. Together, let’s continue working towards a positive and inclusive future where every young person feels valued, supported, and able to reach their full potential.
R U OK? Day 2025
“A conversation could change a life.” It’s important to talk and check on your friends every day, not only on R U Okay Day. At Coomealla High School, we have trained teachers, social workers, counsellors, a nurse, and a psychologist who are here to help. If you feel like you need more support than just a friendly chat, please talk to one of us.

Great job to everyone who took part! Despite the unexpected weather, everyone came with positive attitudes and gave their best effort!
